Funny Movies to watch

Funny Movies to watch

While my whole website is dedicated to comedies, I wanted to make a list of funny movies to watch for people who know they want a laugh! I tended to stick to less serious comedy films because if you are looking for funny movies to watch, you are looking to laugh. I’m guessing that if you searched “funny movies to watch”, you probably want some lesser known movies that you haven’t seen before so I have added some lesser known comedies that you probably have not seen! I decided to start the list with funny PG13 movies since that way pretty much anyone who is searching for funny movies can enjoy, but I have some R rated funny movies near to the end of the list!

Anchorman Movie Poster ComedyAnchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) Funniness Rating:100%

I had a bit of a dillema with Anchorman. On one hand, it is possibly the best funny PG13 movie (14A for Canadians!) In existence. On the other hand, the fact that I have to give this flick a funniness rating of 100% pretty much tells anyone reading this that the funniness meter is a made up number based on how hilarious these movies are. Holy hell, I’ve watched this movie at least five times and it gets funner each time. This is the story of a group of newscasters who deal with a new addition to their team: a woman! Set in the 70s, Will Ferrell stars along with Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn, just to name a few of this star studded cast. The news game is vicious, and rival newsgroups fight to gain street cred and the all important ratings! If you have not seen this funny movie, give yourself a slap across the face (Justcomedies does not recommend actually slapping yourself. Please note that this is for humour only and Justcomedies holds no liability in injuries caused by slapping oneself.) and watch the damn movie!

Tucker & Dale vs Evil (2010) Funniness Rating:85%

Movie Poster Tucker and Dale vs EvilIt’s past halloween, but if you want a funny horror comedy to watch, Tucker & Dale vs evil is the flick for you! This is such a funny movie because it turns the horror genre on its head. Two hapless hillbillies are just trying to relax in their new mountain cabin when a serious of accidents and unlucky mistakes puts them against a group of college kids. If you ever watch Firefly, you will love this movie because one of the hillbillies is no one else but the great Alan Tudyk, who played Hoban “Wash” Washburne in Firefly. This funny movie is not for kids however, and has quite a bit of gore and an R rating to go along with it! Enjoy at your own peril.

This one isn’t for the kids either! It’s one of Seth Rogen’s finest, a hilarious stoner comedy that also moonlights as an action packed ride. The whole thing is made even funnier when you take into account that the characters Rogen and James Franco play are high out of their minds as they deal with an escalating amount of violence, ridiculousness, and tense situations. If you enjoy stoner comedies, do yourself a favour and check this one out. Once again, this is an R rated comedy, so go in expecting drug use, violence, and a whole lot more! The plot is simple: a rather loserlike dude played by Seth Rogen gets roped into some horrifying gang related violence while blitzed out of his mind with his dealer, played by Franco. Sounds fun? Check it out!

Alright, I’ll be honest, I am getting tired as hell of formatting so I am just going to list off a bunch of awesome funny movies. Yeah, I am lazy. But a better man would spend a few hours getting all the formatting right, and that could deprive someone who happens to be searching “funny movies to watch” of my list in the precious hours it could take! So in a way, I am a hero. Here’s some more funny movies to watch!

Want an action comedy to watch? Check out:

1. Rush Hour, one of Jackie Chan’s funnest and funniest kung fu buddy cop movies around. This one came out in 1998, and uses a nice cliche of unlikely cops (Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker) who team up to get back a kidnapped daughter. Got to love those Jackie Chan fight scenes! This is a PG13 comedy so isn’t anything too risque, so if you want a light hearted funny movie check this one out.

If you like black comedies (as in dark comedies), check out:

1. Burn After Reading, a 2008 black comedy that includes actors such as George Clooney and Brad Pitt as we watch a few hapless nobodies get their hands on the memoirs of a former CIA operative and try to make the best out of the situation. Which ends up going comically wrong for pretty much everyone involved. This lovely film charts an R rated trainwreck of incalculable proportions.

2. Horrible Bosses, a 2011 comedy about employees who hate their bosses for a variety of reasons, and decide to murder them. They aren’t exactly the best employees, and they aren’t exactly the best murderers either!

Alright, I’ve spent about 45 minutes writing this list and that’s enough for now. I will try to update my list of funny movies later but eh I’m pretty lazy. If you want to figure out a different comedy to watch, well, this whole site is full of lists so shouldn’t be too hard to find something you want!
