Blades of Glory

I was told I need more PG13 comedies on my list of the best comedies of 2007.

blades-of-glory-pg13-sports-comedy-2007If you have heard Jay Z’s song “Neighbours in Paris”, you know it starts out with the line “We are going to skate to one song and one song only”. Where is that line from? You guessed it, Blades of Glory.

…I’m just going to leave this here.

This Pg-13 comedy movie doesn’t get enough recognition. It’s got 2 polar opposites, Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder) who are forced to compete together if they want to skate. The two, Chazz an overbearing sex addict, and Jimmy is a girly skater, have to work out their differences if they want to beat their rivals, the weird and crafty brother and sister skating pair Stranz and Fairchild. Although it’s rated pg-13, I’m not sure if I would feel comfortable watching this with kids… it’s got a couple pretty adult themes amidst the hilarity.

Can Napolean Dynamite win the heart of Pam from “The Office”?

Will Ferrell is at his best when he plays larger than life, obnoxiously awesome characters like Chazz Michael Michaels, and Jon Heder’s only talent is to play characters Jimmy. The result? Hilarity. Watch this awesome comedy and laugh your skates off 🙂 It’s not often that a comedy gets made about skating that is not about hockey, and this is one you should not let yourself miss.
