Ah, the 1980s. A decade of strange fashions, music, and which overwhelmingly feels lost to me. You have the 70s with free love and happiness, the corporate bleakness of the 90s, but the 80s feel like the misguided child who doesn’t quite know what he or she is. Still, the 80s were a great decade for comedies, with some of my absolute favourties coming from this decade.

1980 is home to 2 of my favourite films ever, Airplane! and Caddyshack. These are
so good on just so many levels. Airplane is full of slapstick, running gags and puns, and Caddyshack has some of the best characters and actors I have seen. Gotta love em! These are two comedies that I would reccomend to almost anyone.
This one takes place on an Airplane. Go figure, eh?
While this one takes place on the golf green. Such misleading titles!

Who you gonna call! Ghostbusters! This is another classic comedy that holds up over time… even if the special effects don’t!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

The Naked Gun

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Well, there is my list of the best comedies of the 1980s. I’m sorry it’s so short! I’m going to try my best to expand it when I have the time. I’m trying to work on another website at the moment (plus my real job, 5 courses, and a heck of a lot of freelance writing) so it might be a slow process, but I do have a soft spot for this old site even if she is a huge time sink with no financial gain.
